えーと、SAS版Tigerを1回セットアップしたのですが、ちょっとパーティションの構成に誤りが
見つかったので、再度作り直しをしています。
まあ、ただ、ベンチマークテストをやってみた感じは、「ちょっとなあ、おい・・・」という
状況です。そう、スコアが既存のSATA版A-Tigerよりもよろしくないのです。
ベンチマークのデータはこんな感じです。

えーと、SAS版Tigerのセットアップが終わって、今社内でのサーバ動作チェックの方に
回りました。いわゆる「検品」作業です。
で、今までのベンチマークの結果を以下で掲載しようと思います。
まず基本となるのはA-Tiger2009サーバ(FreeBSD 7.0R + SATA VelociRaptor)ですが、
このunixbenchを実行した結果はこちらになります。
で、ハードはそのままでOSのバージョンだけを7.1Rにアップグレードした結果は
こちらになります。
そして、ハードディスクをSASにしてOSのバージョンを7.1Rにアップグレードした
結果はこちらになります。
なお、参考までにハードディスクをSSDにしてgmirrorでソフトウェアRAIDを構築し、
OSのバージョンを7.1Rにアップグレードした結果はこちらになります。
unixbenchの結果(FINAL SCORE)だけを見て順位づけすると、こうなりました。

なんだかなあ・・・・・
短絡的に考えちゃいけないんだろうけど、SASがSATAに負けています。SSDはカヤの外です・・・
まあ、SAS版Tigerの場合、RocketRAIDのカード自体がFreeBSD7.0R対応版のドライバーしかなくて
サーバ構築時にそのドライバーをいったん退避して、カーネルを7.1Rにアップグレードした後で
/boot/kernelに退避したドライバーを放り込みました。
もしかすると、7.0Rで動かさないといけなかったのかもしれませんねえ・・・
あと、SSD版TigerはPolywellのSam社長から「FreeBSDだとダメだよ〜」とダメだしを食らって
いましたので、ソフトウェアRAIDだとこれが限界、という事なのでしょうか?
